Summary: SteppeIn is an agricultural work marketplace that connects businesses that have work to be done with workers who are ready to do it. Businesses describe the work; workers review the scope, compensation, schedule, location, and requirements and decide whether to accept an engagement; work gets done; completion is confirmed; and, where supported, payment is facilitated through the platform. Core marketplace access is free for workers. Businesses must follow all applicable labor laws.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using SteppeIn ("Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and SteppeIn, Inc. ("SteppeIn," "we," "our," or "us").
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 16 years old to use SteppeIn
- You must provide accurate information when creating your account
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials
3. The Service
SteppeIn operates an agricultural work marketplace. Depending on the features available to you, the Service may allow:
- Businesses to describe agricultural work that needs to be done (a "work request" or "engagement"), including scope, location, schedule, duration, number of workers, compensation, and requirements
- Workers to discover agricultural work opportunities and indicate their availability and readiness
- Surfacing or matching of appropriate workers to work opportunities
- Workers to review the terms of an opportunity and accept or otherwise enter into an engagement
- Businesses to confirm workers for an engagement, where applicable
- Scheduling, communications, and confirmation of completion
- Facilitation of payment for completed work, where that functionality is supported
- Work history, ratings and reviews, and repeat engagements
Relationship of the parties: SteppeIn provides a marketplace and related technology to help coordinate agricultural work. The working arrangement for any given engagement is between the business and the worker, except to the extent expressly stated in a separate written agreement. The parties' actual relationship is governed by applicable law and the facts of each engagement.
External Opportunities
The Service may also display agricultural opportunities that originate from third parties. For any such external opportunity, SteppeIn does not necessarily control the third party, verify the opportunity, employ the worker, process payment, or guarantee the opportunity, its compensation, or any application process. Where present, external opportunities are distinguished from SteppeIn marketplace engagements.
4. Accounts
Workers
- SteppeIn does not currently charge workers for core marketplace access
- You may create a profile and provide readiness information (such as skills, availability, credentials, or training) to participate in the marketplace
- You decide whether to accept any engagement and are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide
Businesses
- Businesses use SteppeIn to request and manage agricultural work
- When creating a work request, a business may need to provide information such as the work to be performed, location, schedule, duration, number of workers, compensation, required skills, transportation and equipment requirements, physical requirements, housing (if applicable), and working conditions
- Businesses must represent a legitimate farm or agricultural business operation and be authorized to request work on its behalf
- Businesses are solely responsible for the accuracy and legality of the information they provide and the engagements they create
- Certain features may require a paid plan or may involve fees as described in Section 6
5. Business Obligations
Businesses using SteppeIn agree to:
- Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local wage, labor, safety, and anti-discrimination laws, and applicable agricultural-employment requirements
- Provide accurate and truthful information about each engagement, including compensation, schedule, working conditions, and (where applicable) housing
- Not discriminate against workers based on race, ethnicity, national origin, immigration status, religion, gender, age, or disability
- Compensate workers as described for the engagement and in compliance with applicable minimum-wage and wage-payment laws
- Maintain a safe working environment as required by OSHA and applicable state regulations
- Not require workers to surrender identification documents
- Not charge workers fees for work or housing in violation of applicable law
Violations of labor laws or exploitative practices may result in immediate suspension and removal from the marketplace. We take worker safety seriously. Nothing in these Terms relieves a business of any responsibility imposed on it by law.
6. Fees, Payments and Marketplace Transactions
Fees and Pricing Disclosure
Core marketplace access is free for workers. Businesses may be charged fees in connection with the Service, which may include subscription fees, marketplace fees, transaction-related fees, and separately agreed service fees. The specific fees that apply to you, and the current rates, are disclosed before the applicable purchase, plan selection, or engagement — for example, on the SteppeIn pricing page, at checkout, during plan selection, or in an applicable order form or enterprise agreement.
Marketplace Fees
Where a marketplace fee applies, it is generally calculated as a percentage of the approved worker compensation for a completed engagement, as disclosed for the applicable plan. Amounts such as tips and reimbursements are not included in the base used to calculate the marketplace fee, except as otherwise disclosed. Marketplace fees are earned when the associated work is completed and approved, and become payable as disclosed.
Subscriptions
Some plans are offered on a subscription basis. Subscription scope, billing frequency, renewal, and cancellation terms are those disclosed at the time of plan selection. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date.
Payment Processing and Authorization
Where payment facilitation is supported, payments may be processed through one or more third-party payment providers. By using paid features, you authorize SteppeIn and its payment provider(s) to charge the applicable amounts to your designated payment method. If a payment fails or is reversed, access to paid features may be suspended and outstanding amounts remain due.
Cancellations, Refunds, and Disputes
Cancellations, no-shows, completion approval, refunds, credits, and related situations are handled in accordance with the policies disclosed through the Service at the time of the applicable transaction. Questions about a charge can be raised with us at support@steppein.com.
Pricing Changes
Fees and rates may change. Changes are disclosed through the applicable channels and take effect as disclosed.
Enterprise and Separate Agreements; Managed Workforce
Enterprise or custom arrangements may be governed by a separate order form or agreement, which governs to the extent of any conflict with these Terms for the applicable services. SteppeIn may separately offer a "Managed Workforce" service that is different from the standard marketplace and may involve worker wages, statutory payroll costs, insurance, administrative costs, and a separate service margin. Managed Workforce is not included in the standard marketplace fee and, where offered, is governed by a separate agreement.
